Aug. 7th, 2007 07:58 pmFirst day:
We traveled 400 miles to Grenada, Mississippi. It was a fairly uneventful trip. It was hard saying good-bye to Margaret and Ed. They've been so sweet to us this summer. Zack teared up as he was saying good-bye. He's such a sensitive soul.
I thought we would be going through Tupelo. I called Melissa and told her to expect me tonight. I called my Grandma and told her we'd take her out to dinner. Turns out we didn't go through Tupelo. It would take us 3 hours out of our way to go there. We decided not to go. I feel foolish for making all those arrangements and then having to cancel them. Part of me thinks that 3 hours is worth it to see two women that I love dearly. However, I have my grouchy husband and wiggly kids to take into consideration. Also, we don't have unlimited time. We have to be to Spokane by Monday at the latest. I hate that I made such a blunder. We almost lost $80 on the hotel reservation too, but luckily Margaret was able to talk Travelocity into refunding us. Whew!
Now we are chilling out in the hotel room, waiting for pizza to be delivered. After pizza, we will hit the pool. These kids really need to get out some wiggles. I'm going to let them swim as long as they please.
I did see one thing that was odd today. We stopped at a small, rural gas station for a potty break. Petey has a bad habit of waiting until he's about to wet his pants to tell us he needs to go and then freaking out because he has to go so bad. Right after I pulled up, a tow truck pulled up behind us. It was towing a big, white bus (school type). The bus was covered in green algea and had water pouring from it's tail pipe. Clearly, it had been under water for a significant amount of time to get algea all over it. I keep wondering what the story behind the bus is. How did it get in the water, and why was it left there for so long? Why is being towed out now? I was going to ask the guys, but they were gone by the time I got back from the potty break.
Pizza's here! One more thing: When we pulled up to the hotel, Josh asked if we were going to live here now. Poor confused boy. He has no idea where to call home.
