How do you feel about professor's assigning readings which they themselves have written? What about articles that heavily feature them and their achievements?

So long as it's an article they photocopy and give out for free, I'm fine with it. Making students buy your book is tacky, though.

Unless it's a unique anthology or something like that. Then it's excusable.

Agreed! You'll have to let us know how the readings are.

(Someone in our department wrote a textbook that's used in our department. If you read the reviews on Amazon.com, everybody hates it. From other professors to students. But it is a text book still being used in classrooms. Ayieeee!)
