Carnival javelina

Last night we went to a carnival at Zack's school. It was huge and the kids and a great time. Jumping castles, giant slides and obstacle courses not to mention lots of yummy carnival treats to eat. Pete won the cake walk and Zack won just about every game he tried. We parked at the public library and rode a bus over to the school, since there was no parking near the school. When the bus dropped us back off at the library we were the only people in the parking lot. As we were walking through the empty parking lot towards our car, we startled a javelina that was also walking around in the parking lot. As we continued towards the car, we slowly became aware of the fact that there were several javelina - some off to the side and some in front of our car. Most of them trotted away as soon as they saw us, but one rather large fellow started to slowly approach the car. The hair on his back was bristling! It was a little scary but he didn't come very close. Luckily I had the camera in the diaper bag and we were able to snap a few pictures. They are pretty dark, but you can still see the javelinas. I love Arizona when it comes to wildlife. Where else do you run across a herd of wild pigs wandering around the library parking lot?



This morning we went to a garage sale a found a carpet cleaner for $10. Awesome!
