Writer's Block: Leftovers of leftovers

[Error: unknown template qotd]While living in China I tried my best to be brave and try all sorts of food that I knew I'd never have the opportunity to try in the States. The only thing specifically remember refusing to try was suckling pig. It was brought to the table whole, stretched out on a platter, still a perfect little baby. I can't stand the thought of eating baby animals.

What I did eat:

Scorpion
Pig brain
pigeon
rabbit
octopus (not fried)
tripe

Pictures? Why yes, thank you:

All I can say is - you're a braver woman than I.

Right?! I tried to explain this to her - this bravery and she's like, "Oh, you would have eaten it too." No, my dearest friend, I would never have eaten a scorpion.

Yeah . . . no. The only suitable action for a scorpion is to squish it with some heavy shoes. LOL

I broke off the stinger of course, but it was surprisingly tasty. Like a frito lay!

Ew. LOL I'd never make it as a missionary or diplomat.

Leftovers

You have plenty of squirrels around the yard. They are high in protein and quite tasty. Would you like to try fried squirrel? How about sweet and sour squirrel on rice? Perhaps Max would ? On second thought grilled on a bamboo skewer would be better for you than fried. When we lived in Troy in 1970 and '71 while going to college our food budget wasn't always adequate and there was no food stamps ( at least I don't think there were then). We tried squirrel, rabbit, duck, quail, catfish, bass and venison and, oh yes, frog legs obtained from the farm ponds.

You're so cute eating the scorpion!
