My brother in law just sent me a link to a website that gives the correct translation of Chinese and Japanese characters as used in the West. For example, he tells people what their tattoos really say. It's quite entertaining. Chris has been telling me for years that people walk around with nonsense on their shirts, but how are we to know?
It's sort of the answer to the Engrish website. Fun stuff :)

If you could find a tattoo artist that actually spoke and wrote Kanji, I'd say go for it. Otherwise, chances are he/she'd leave out a stroke rendering it meaningless. So, what words do you like? I got to wondering if they have a character for "chad", like a hanging chad from a vote ballot? :)

ha! but no, I would not do that.
My friend Base (yep, that's his name) is a tattoo artist who is half Japanese, and he does a lot of that work. He's who I got the dictionary from. He's pretty amused when people come in asking for one thing, and then discover it means another. If I ever get a tattoo though, it's going to be something I design. Or Luke's Xwing Helmet.
