Writer's Block: Less Than Idle Hands

[Error: unknown template qotd]

When my hair is long enough, I pull a strand of it around to the front of my face, place over my lip, press it there with my finger and inhale through it. I hate when I catch myself doing this because it seems like such a childish gesture. I haven't been able to do it for years but my hair is longer now. I caught myself doing it the other day as I sat at a red light. Horrified. I was just plain horrified. But, there was a small part of me that realized it was a comfortable gesture.

I do that too. Well, when my hair's down. I think it has something to do with familiar, calming scents. I'm not sure though.

I rub my eyebrows or pull on my earlobes. Usually just the left since I'm right handed and my right hand always seems to be busy doing something.

Oh, I just remembered a horrible tic I used to have when I was really anxious - bouncing my leg. I did it so much once that I ended up with serious shin splints. It was the only way I knew that I could get that nervous energy out of my body.
