We're here and getting settled in. I'm not sure what to think of Caldwell. It reminds me of a kid who grew too fast one summer and now none of his clothes fit. In other words, there has been huge growth here but the city still has the infrastructure of a small town. For example, there are four-way stops everywhere instead of traffic lights. It's clear that they are trying to catch up to the growth, but they have a long way to go. Also, this is still a big farming community. Today when we were wandering around the quaint downtown, there was a strong "farm" smell in the air. Our neighborhood is surrounded by corn fields, wheat fields and what I suspect are beet fields. I've not lived in a town this small since I moved away from Alabama ten years ago. It's going to take some getting used to.

I have a lot more to write, but I hardly know where to start right now. I think I'll just leave you with some pics which I snapped from the car. There aren't anything spectacular, but they'll give you an idea of what Caldwell looks like.

I took this to show how Caldwell is full of all these brand new neighborhoods, snuggled up next to farm fields.

That's similar to where we live. I think once you get settled in, you're going to fall in love with it. Will you be living in a development or in town?

This description is so apt, according to your pictures. I am getting to be less and less of a country girl, but I hope you learn to love the area. At least til your next move! ;) I am sure there are pros to be found of any area, if you look hard enough!

We live in a development. I kind of wish we were in town though, just because I miss having older, mature trees around the neighborhood. The older neighborhoods in town have tall beautiful trees, while all the trees in our development are babies in comparison.

lol, well, we haven't found Oliver yet but maybe soon.

I know! I'm just telling myself that I'll love it once I get used to it.
I guess the idea is that we can have the pace of country living with the conveniences of the city close by? Boise is only about a half hour away, if the traffic is good.

I hope I learn to love it too. I do love exploring new areas. I'll take your advice and just look for the positive :)

Perhaps you could get a pig like Arnold for a pet. Its a farming community. No one should care. I would have one if I could but there is already one living in this house and I am messy enough. Aside from that, the Homeowners Assn doesn't permit farm animals. Bill

We have the pleasure of being subject to a homeowner's association now too. I'm not sure they'd like a pig anymore than I would :)

Caldwell, hugh?

I had no idea you guys were moving to such a country place. Life should slow down this year. The pace of those places has that effect I think. It's good to see you guys made the shift okay. Hope all goes well there and it's a great year.

Truthfully, we had no idea we were moving to such a country place either. I guess I assumed it was just a suburb of Boise, sort of like Oro Valley was for Tucson. I was appalled at first, but the longer we're here, the more I like it. People are friendly, and real here. That's cool.
