Currently listening to Nouvelle Vague. She does covers of The Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, Lords of the New Church and many other old school punk rockers. Yet, she her style is more jazzy, almost bossa nova. I love it. Chris and I first stumbled upon her while sitting in an Italian cafe in Kunming. Ah, the memories.

And, btw, now I can't write anything in this dang journal without wondering/worrying that I'm writing in passive voice! Drat.

So I'll always remember...

Today as Josh and I came out of the post office, he spied a puddle in the parking lot. It caught his attention because it sparkled and shimmered with the colors of the rainbow. Oil and water mixed together to form a swirl of brilliant colors. He gazed at it for a moment, then turned to me and said "Look! A rainbow in this puddle!" I gave some pat answer, calloused by all my years of seeing oily puddles. "Yeah, isn't that pretty? C'mon, let's get in the car now." I started to walk away.

He looked at the swirl of color more closely and then turned to me and said "I think a rainbow fell out of the sky and landed in that puddle!!"

Remember, folks, we need to appreciate the small things in life. Oily puddles are there for our pleasure. Take time to notice :)
