Writer's Block: It Sounds Better When You Say It

An expression that Chris and I say to each other often his "Bu hao yis" (I'm sure that's not spelled correctly). It is Chinese for "I'm so embarrassed" but you say it in a way that is more like you're embarrassed but proud, like you're trying to downplay your accomplishment. I heard it just this week in the Library when a tour guide said it to a group of Asian Study students.

Another word we use a lot is "dong shi" which means knick knacks or things. We say it a lot to refer to everything from a bit of fluff in each others hair to a bunch of antique brick-bracks that we might be looking at.
