"If we have to pay you 5 cents every time we pick our nose, does that mean we can buy nose picks?"

-Petey's response to my decree that every time I catch them picking their nose they have to pay me 5 cents. I'm not trying to strike up a business deal here! I just want them to stop picking their nose in public!! I thought by fining them, they'd learn to pick their noses more discretely, like in the bathroom or something. Nothing doing. They've pretty much decided that it's worth paying the money.

What can I do?

oh, oh, wait!

Hold on, wait... shoot, I'll have to find it, but a couple of years ago we had this discussion with our two youngest about picking their nose. heh heh... but it was a website that showed just what WAS in a wee little booger.

I say change the negative consequence to a positive one. How about a dollar for every week they don't pick their noses in public? Of course, then you run into them finding creative ways to hide it. Kids can be so sneaky.

r-o-f-l!! Oh my, don't know how to solve that problem.

Um... I do have a son who tends to miss the toilet when he is sleepy. He cleans the bathroom, and especially the bathroom floor, since he messes it.

Is Petey finding the garbage for all his nose mining? If not, in my house Petey would get to vacuum the carpet of every room he's caught picking his nose in.

*ROFL* It's stories like this that I always share with Mike. He and I both laughed so hard. He suggests that, like speeding tickets, you increase the fine. He says the fine should be large enough that the kids will think, "Gosh! It's too expensive to pick our noses in public."

Of course, we know absolutely nothing about children but we do find this story absolutely hilarious!!!

Nose Picking

So, the picking of the nose has become an affordable indulgence or a bargain luxury at the low price of just 5 cents. There's not much that 5 cents will buy these days. When I was their age a nickel bought a Coke! I was always told: " You can pick you nose. You can pick your friends but you CAN'T pick your friend's nose !" Bill
