I recall going with my mom when she voted in the Reagan/Carter election. I was five. I stood outside the curtained voting booth and waited as she cast her vote. I also remember my parents discussing (celebrating) the results as we rode in our station wagon together. It was night time. When asked I why they were so happy, they told me it was the first time a candidate that they had voted for had won the presidential election.
