Want to hear something yucky?
I had the opportunity to get a carpet from freecycle. The entry said it was in good shape, just needed to be cleaned. She told me I could come pick it up, it was sitting in her front yard. Chris needs a rug for his office, so I went by to get it.
Like she said, it was in her front yard. I picked it up and heaved it into the back of the van. I couldn't quite get it in all at once, so I had to let go and readjust my grasp. It was at this point that I noticed that the underside of the rug was crawling with bugs. Tiny, almost transparent bugs. Ack! Of course, I removed the rug from the car and drove away.
I was wearing a relatively low cut shirt. I changed it when I got home, but all evening long I had the heebie-jeebies from that close encounter with a bug infestation. I emailed the lady and pointed out that the carpet had bugs and that's why I didn't take it. She didn't answer.
Just now, when I was in the shower, I saw that I have three red welts inbetween my bosoms. Those bugs, whatever they were, must have gotten on me and bit me! What if they got IN me, like chiggers or something?
So, so yucky. Should I email the freecycle moderators and tattle on that lady for trying to get someone to tote away her bug-infested carpet? It is people like that who slander the good name of freecycle!
