Tomorrow Mariannette and I begin the Thanksgiving preparations. We are holding our holiday celebration one day late (Friday) due to the fact that the students still have class tomorrow. We will do heavy duty shopping tomorrow as well as cook all the desserts. 3 Turkeys, pumpkin pies, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and gravy has been ordered from Skyways. We're making mashed potatoes, green beans, roasted veggies, and several other dishes. Some of the students have signed up to come to our houses tomorrow and the next day to help us cook (peel potatoes, apples, carrots, etc.) I've never participated in cooking a meal for 50+ people before. The fact that it is one as significant as Thanksgiving, and all this represents to American, plus the fact that most of them have not had a good home-cooked "American" meal in several months...it puts a lot of pressure on this. I worry that no matter how much food we cook, it won't be enough. Let's face it, college kids eat a lot! But Mariannette and I have tried to take that into consideration and hopefully all will work out.
