I made it
I arrived in Ft. Walton Beach safely with only a few adventures along the way. Since Connor is still so young, I wasn't required to buy a ticket for him. I saved money by holding him on my lap instead. The question that kept running through my mind was "Is $300 worth this trouble?" He was so mad at me! He wanted to get down and explore the whole time. He kept screaming at me and trying to scratch, pinch and bite me. Of course he isn't normally so aggressive. He was just extremely frustrated and wanted me to let go of him. I felt as if I was in a 3 hour wrestling match. At one point he screamed so loudly that he startled the man in front of us awake. The man threw his arms up in the air and practically jumped out of his seat. Later, the same man said rather loudly "I'm trying to sleep!" I think he was referring to Pete bumping into the back of his chair. However, that man aside, most of the other passengers were super nice. I had three people tell me how well behaved the boys were-and the older boys were really good. I finally stood up in the ailse and rocked back and forth with him. He fell right asleep and we had a quiet last half hour of the trip. As we were going through the Atlanta airport they had a great time riding the transit train. When the train first started up Petey just laughed and laughed. He thought it was great fun. I couldn't help but laugh with him. Our plane ride from Atlanta to Ft Walton was only about an hour and Connor did much better. Of course, the humidity here in Florida is crazy. The temp was in the low 80's when we arrived, but I broke a sweat on the way to the car just from the humidity. When we got to the house (we are visiting with Chris' mom for a few days before we head to my parent's house) the boys just made themselves right at home. My MIL has gotten a dog since the last time we were here. Pete is in love with her and they were chasing each other all around last night (you know how much Kelso -that 70's show- loves dogs? That is Pete). The first thing he said this morning was "Can I play with the dog?" The dog is still a puppy so she loves to play. I think they will have a good time together. I thought Connor would be nervous and have stranger anxiety but nope. He's at home here. Although he was only 4 months old last time we were here, he knows these are people we love. This is our family. I'm so glad to be here.
I love Chris' mom. I think I forgot to tell you all the good news. Her lymphoma is in recession. She has one more chemo treatment later this month and then she's done for now. Isn't that awesome? She looks the same as she always did. I mean, you can't look at her and tell that she has a life threatening disease. Tomorrow is the Billy bowlegs parade. That will be great fun.
